Incarnation Catholic School
was founded in 1961, and has served the families of Incarnation Parish
and Sarasota by providing quality academic education in a Catholic Christian
environment. The school opened in September 1961 and consisted of
grades one through four. In September 1962 the fifth and sixth grades
were added followed by grades seven and eight the next year..
A library was built in 1970 and
now serves as the faculty room. Two portables were acquired in 1974 to
provide more classroom space. The Kindergarten was added in 1981.
A major expansion project was
completed in 1993. The two portables were replaced with a permanent
building which houses grades three, four, five, the computer lab and the art
room. An addition to the original building provided administrative
offices, a clinic and library/media center.
In 1995-96, the playground was
redesigned and extensive equipment was added. At that time the
lunchroom was refurbished.
Father Gerard Finegan has served as
Incarnation's pastor since 1976. Sister Monica Paul Fraser , O.P. was
appointed principal in 1989.
