"Everything we have, all our great institutions,

hospitals, universities, libraries,

this city, our laws, our music, art, poetry,

our freedoms, everything is because

somebody went before us and did the hard work. . .

Indifference to history isn't just ignorant, it's rude.

It's a form of ingratitude."

                          David McCullough

Grade 6 – Grade 6 uses the text, World, published by McGraw-Hill.  It covers the great civilizations of the world.  Materials used as supplements include:  computer software, laser disks,  the Internet, Junior Scholastic and videos.

Grade 7 - Grade 7 uses The American Nation: Beginnings Through 1877, published by Prentice Hall.  In addition to the textbook, there are workbook activities, skits, laser disks, computer test and quiz reviews, Junior Scholastic magazine, videos, the Internet and our new wireless mobile computer lab which is available in each of the classes.

Grade 8 - Grade 8 uses The American Nation: Civil War to the Present published by Prentice Hall.  Students in grade 8 will use the same varied approaches to social studies content as students in grades 6 and 7.  Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 work individually and in groups to cover the varied assortment of topics that this curriculum presents.  Correlations between history and current events are drawn in all social studies classes.
