Discipline

Students are expected to observe basic rules which are posted in each classroom.  These include: raise your hand before speaking; follow directions the first time; keep hands and objects to yourself; be prepared for class and stay in your seat.  Students are expected to respect teachers, staff and other students.  Repeated misbehavior, fighting, violence, bringing drugs on the premises, cheating, lying, property damage, or leaving the school premises without permission may result in suspension or expulsion.

Detention: If a student is given detention and the parent requests in writing that the student be excused, he/she will serve it the next detention day.

Suspension: Suspension from school is a severe disciplinary procedure and will be imposed after chronic disregard for school or classroom policies.  The time of suspension may be served either in or out of school and will be determined by the principal.

Expulsion: Expulsion is most serious and will be invoked only after all other means of discipline have proven ineffectual and the student’s conduct is a definite hindrance to the welfare and progress of the school community.

There may be situations which demand immediate removal of a student from school.  If the serious nature of the situation warrants (e.g. drugs, alcohol, vandalism, possession of a weapon or anything that looks like or could be used as a weapon, etc.) expulsion may be invoked for a first offense.  The pastor and principal are the final recourse in all disciplinary situations and may waive any disciplinary rule for just cause at his/her discretion.
