National Blue Ribbon School An important part of the U.S. Department of Education, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and non-public schools. In identifying several hundred outstanding schools annually, the program celebrates school excellence, turn around stories, and closing subgroup achievement gaps. The Accreditation Committee of the Florida Catholic Conference
The Florida Catholic Conference Accreditation Program is one of the oldest, most robust, and cutting edge Catholic accrediting programs in the country. In the 1960’s, the Florida bishops appointed a committee to explore accreditation. The current standards use The National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic and Secondary Schools, as well as Florida Department of Education and Florida Department of Children and Families requirements. Diocese of Venice, Florida
The Diocese of Venice was established by St. John Paul II in 1984 from parts of the Archdiocese of Miami, Diocese of Orlando and the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Bishop John J. Nevins was the founding Bishop and served until his retirement in January 2007. Bishop Frank J. Dewane took over all duties as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Venice in Florida in January 2007.
